Javascript Animation with Greensock Animation Platform GSAP

Saying that I used the TweenLite and TweenMax libraries of the Greensock framework a lot with Flash would be an understatement. I really love the elegant work of Jack Doyle and his team.

1st try - I am just changing background color and size, which is working fine.

Conclusion

What I am experiencing while using Greensocks for JS is a dependency on the use of absolute positioning. Otherwise I am getting unpredictable results in animation and positioning. Also there stays the disadvantage of file size: if I want to use TweenLite, TimeLineLite, and the Easing-Plugin, we already have 38KB of Javascript data. And if I dare using the CSS plugin, we have to add another 31 KB. Given I want to create advertisment banner that have a size limitation of 40KB still today, I am going to have a problem.

Also it seems easier to first position all your elements (absolute as it seems) and animate them in with the "from" tweening, instead with the to.

But beside some drawbacks, this is really fun to use and has very powerful concept.
